Ann Grant

Ann started her family law firm after a successful career as a partner at a major international law firm where Ann represented plaintiffs and defendants in complex business disputes.  Ann’s litigation and negotiation skills allow her to work with her clients to obtain swift and satisfactory results so that they can move their lives forward.

My Story

I now use the skills I honed over the years to help my family law clients achieve the best possible results so that they can move forward with their lives and be prosperous and happy.  Whenever possible, I attempt to resolve matters without resorting to litigation, because it generally is less expensive and disruptive.  Sometimes, however, it is necessary to set clear boundaries and litigate in order to achieve a client’s objectives.  In those cases, I have the skills and tools at my disposal to accomplish my clients’ goals. And after years of litigating, I know how to get things done and when to go to court.

It is a great pleasure to use my skills to help my clients not just survive divorce, but thrive.  I enjoy working through not only the legal issues my clients confront, but also the nonlegal issues that arise when going through a major life transition.  I am deeply sensitive to the need to address the whole person, their goals and aspirations, as we work together to get their life on track.  I have created a network of professionals  including financial advisors and mental health professionals that work together to assist my clients in every area of their lives as they move through this significant life transition.

I received my Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Diego School of Law where I graduated cum laude, 1991.  While there, I served as Editor of the San Diego Law Review. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in 1984.  I am the former editor of The Woman Advocate Newsletter, the official publication of the Woman Advocate Committee of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association.

I began my legal practice at the law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP in 1991.  Later, I joined Howrey & Simon’s Los Angeles office where I practiced as a corporate litigator from 1993-2004.  I was a partner in the complex business litigation department and represented plaintiffs and defendants in matters involving class action lawsuits and litigation involving a wide variety of contract disputes, unfair business practices and consumer fraud. I litigated complex antitrust matters and tried high profile white collar criminal defense cases and patent infringement cases. After I left Howrey, I taught law school at Southwestern University in Los Angeles.

I started my own law firm in Manhattan Beach in 2008 where I currently focus exclusively on family law. I am the author of The Divorce Hackers Guide to Untying the Knot, the #1 New Release on Amazon, and the DivorceHacker App.

I am licensed to practice in front of all courts in the State of California, as well as the federal courts in the Ninth Circuit.
